Glad to see You here,

I'm András

Hello, I'm Gareth

a software engineer focused on systems architecture, reliability, and long-term operation.

What I Actually Do

I design, build, and operate custom software systems.

I design, build, and operate custom software systems where reliability, scalability, and real-world constraints matter. From architecture and development to production operation and long-term ownership.

What I work on

My work typically involves owning systems end-to-end — from architecture and implementation to production operation and long-term evolution.

  • End-to-end design and delivery of business-critical software systems
  • System architecture and backend development for long-running, production systems
  • Integration of enterprise platforms, hardware devices, and regulated interfaces
  • Ownership of systems in production: reliability, observability, and uptime

How I approach system design

Work
Experiences

Work
Experiences

I don’t design systems just to launch them — I design them to evolve.
Most of my work involves long-running systems that must remain reliable under changing requirements, regulatory constraints, and operational realities.
Architecture decisions are always driven by real-world usage, failure modes, and long-term maintainability — not trends.

"András is a partner who is not only highly professional but also personable and agile. Thanks to his conscientious work, I feel confident in the operation of the systems he develops and manages."

High-Availability Access Control System

Scope: hardware-integrated, regulated, high-throughput production system

  • Designed and delivered a high-availability access control system handling ~10,000 daily passages
  • Integrated custom hardware devices with backend systems and certified government interfaces (NAV Üvegkapu)
  • Full ownership of system architecture, backend implementation, deployment, and long-term operation
  • Strong focus on reliability, auditability, and uninterrupted operation in a regulated environment

Industrial & Mining Management Systems

Scope: industrial operations, ERP integration, regulatory reporting

  • End-to-end delivery of industrial and mining management systems used in live production environments
  • Integration of weighbridge hardware, ERP-based billing systems, and EKÁER / NAV reporting workflows
  • Continuous system evolution with expanding feature sets driven by real operational needs
  • Ownership of system reliability, data consistency, and operational continuity

Logistics & Fleet Management Systems

Scope: market-driven dispatch, algorithmic allocation, real-world operations

  • Designed and delivered a logistics and fleet management system built around a bidding-based dispatch model
  • Implemented an algorithmic allocation mechanism where carriers bid on transport tasks and the system determines the winning contractor based on defined criteria
  • Automated order assignment and execution workflows, bridging business rules with real-world transport operations
  • Delivered a production system designed for long-term operation, maintainability, and integration into broader operational processes

Enterprise Power Platform Solutions

Scope: enterprise-scale business platforms

  • Delivered enterprise-grade Microsoft Power Platform solutions for a high-revenue industrial SME (~HUF 1.5B/year)
  • Designed systems aligned with large-scale enterprise platform standards and governance expectations
  • Focused on maintainability, auditability, and long-term operational ownership

Medical Imaging Controller Software (X-ray Modality)

Scope: regulated, hardware-driven system development in a multidisciplinary environment

  • Contributed to the continued development of X-ray modality controller software using C++ and Qt in a regulated, hardware-driven environment
  • Worked closely with physicists and domain specialists to implement and validate new functionality on top of an existing controller system
  • Participated in system testing, documentation, and integration, including tooling and test clients used during development and verification

Business Automation & Cloud-Based SME Systems

Scope: Power Platform, Azure, collaborative enterprise delivery

  • Contributed to the design and delivery of Power Apps and Power Automate–based solutions as part of a development team serving SME clients
  • Worked within a collaborative environment to build cloud-backed business applications using Microsoft Azure services and custom integrations
  • Supported automation, reporting, and operational transparency for non-technical business users

Additional perspective (product-oriented, cross-domain work)

Alongside system-level engineering work, I’ve intentionally engaged in adjacent disciplines to broaden my problem-solving range and better understand the full lifecycle of digital products.

  • Built and maintained smaller-scale digital products (websites, webshops, custom booking systems) to stay close to real user and business needs
  • Worked with online marketing and performance tracking to understand how technical decisions affect visibility, adoption, and operational outcomes
  • Designed and prepared production-ready marketing and brand materials to ensure technical products are presented clearly and consistently
  • Supported end-to-end product delivery by coordinating sourcing and small-scale manufacturing of custom hardware components when required
Why this matters
This cross-domain experience enables a broader, more holistic approach to engineering — considering not only how systems are built, but how they are delivered, operated, adopted, and evolved over time.

Rather than operating within a narrow technical silo, I bring a wide-ranging, real-world problem-solving mindset, informed by hands-on exposure to business operations and market environments, with a strong focus on delivering, operating, and continuously improving high-quality products.
Across these systems, my role consistently involved translating complex operational, regulatory, and technical constraints into reliable, production-ready software with long-term ownership.

Current Focus

Professional direction and personal balance
I’m currently focused on evolving as a product-oriented systems lead, while gradually bringing my own software ideas to life.

In parallel with client and professional work, I spend my free time developing and refining independent software products — turning nearly-finished ideas into complete, production-ready solutions and exploring their path to market as personal projects.
Beyond technical work, I value long-term relationships, loyalty, and meaningful time spent with people close to me. I believe sustainable, high-quality work is closely tied to balance — staying curious, expanding perspective, and making space for long-standing and new passions alike.

Outside of work, I enjoy hands-on projects like car building, as well as newer pursuits such as snowboarding — activities that help me reset, stay grounded, and return to engineering with a clearer mind.
